Court Clears Way toward Fair City Housing Share and Affordability

In a precedent-setting victory for smart growth, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Frank Roesh ruled that Pleasanton – 68,000 residents, but 40,000 weekday commuters – violated state law that requires cities to absorb their shares of regional housing and must rectify its 29,000-unit cap by quick implementation of ''non-illusory zoning changes.''
