In the midst of a scorching drought that climatologists say may last another 25 years, the United Arab Emirates is planning to tow an iceberg from Antarctica to the shores of the Middle Eastern nation, the U.K. Express reported Friday. The iceberg would be used to provide drinking water to residents.

Full tilt: giant offshore wind farm opens in North Sea
Dutch officials have opened what is being billed as one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms, with 150 turbines spinning far out in the North Sea.

Climate change playing a role in growing list of species at risk
The list of species at risk of extinction in Canada has grown to 751, and the effects of climate change may put those species even more at risk — especially the 62 species in the North.
The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada recently completed a meeting on at-risk species — which include animals, plants and lichen — adding another five to its list, and reassessing the status of several others. http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/cosewic-climate-change-at-risk-species-1.4107238

Transportation Secretary Chao: Expect More Self-Driving Cars on US Roads
Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said the U.S. could start to see more self-driving cars on its roads.
“There are so many different ways in which technology is making itself felt,” Chao said in an interview with the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo. “We have now self-driving cars. We have level-two self-driving cars. They can drive on the highway, follow the white lines on the highway, and there's really no need for any person to be seated and controlling any of the instruments. And now we're also seeing self-driving trains that are possible, self-driving planes.”
