Lack of rain spurs Maricopa County to ban fires at parks

Maricopa County will ban fires at its 10 parks starting Monday.

The ban is because of a lack of rain late this spring and a large quantity of vegetation at parks that easily could catch fire, said R.J. Cardin, director of the county Parks and Recreation Department.
