Program Working to Increase Solar Installations in Portland

Portland agencies will be working with more than 200 property owners this spring to offset costs for installing solar panels on their houses. Homeowners are promised savings of nearly 80 percent by pooling money to buy equipment and labor together, then adding in state and federal tax credits. The Solarize Southwest program is a joint effort of the Energy Trust of Oregon, Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Southwest Neighborhoods Inc. to increase the use of renewable energy in the area.
