WSDOT gears up for the Winter Olympics

The world may have its eyes on Vancouver, B.C., but we are focusing on state highways, working hard to ensure you have a safe drive to the Olympic Games. Over the last few months, we enhanced our travel tools to make the drive across the border as smooth as possible. We also worked with our contractors to suspend or minimize construction during the games that would hinder traffic flow. In fact, with only hours to spare, several projects reached major milestones including the placement of girders for the new Benson Road S. bridge over I-405 in Renton and the Mountlake Terrace Freeway Station along I-5 and the opening of two new lanes on SR 539, near the border crossing with Canada.

We want to support our neighbor’s to the north during this exciting time and provide top-notch service to tourists who come through Washington State.
